S50 Wins at Plastic Awards, 2006

Gallagher stand at the 2006 Biennial New Zealand Plastic Industry Design AwardsNZ Prime Minister, Helen Clark presented Carl Sheridan of the Gallagher Group with both a Gold and Bronze award at the Biennial New Zealand Plastic Industry Design Awards.

This prestigious event held in at the Ellerslie conference centre in Auckland on the evening of October 13th was attended by all significant players in the New Zealand Plastics industry.

The 2006 awards attracted a record number of entries and Gallagher was recognised for the design and moulding and Sunplas Engineering for the tooling design and toolmaking.

Plastics New Zealand CEO Robin Martin said,

“We congratulate all of the entrants and the winners in the 2006 Design Awards on their superb entries and look to them as drivers of this transformation, through their product and process innovation, design technology and entrepreneurial spirit that is leading the way forward”.

The Gallagher S50 Solar Electric Fence Energiser won Gold in the primary product category and Bronze in the injection moulding process category. As the S50 is often used in rugged conditions, it had to be built tough, with low maintenance requirements. An impact-resistant plastic lens helps protect and prolong the life of the solar panel, and the unit is fully sealed to stop moisture from reaching the internal components. It is also easy to access the battery if required.

John Amis, General Manager of Sunplas Engineering, is delighted with the win which follows closely behind recent success at 2006 Designers Institute of New Zealand Awards Best Awards winning the Product Design category (non-consumer section) in August.

"The Plastics Industry Design awards provide us with an excellent opportunity to place our products in open competition against like categories of products, to be judged against the highest international standards and world best manufacturing practice. I'm very proud of our achievements to date."

Such industry accolodes position Sunplas Engineering as an industry leader. As the company progresses from strength to strength such recognition is sure to be indicative of success to come.
