Gallagher Group CEO Wins World Class NZ Manufacturing Award

Gallagher Group CEO, Bill Gallagher, is celebrating success again winning the 2010 World Class Manufacturing Award.

Into its seventh year, nominees for the 2010 World Class New Zealand Awards were evaluated against five main criteria, with a focus on promoting New Zealand internationally, building global connections and facilitating the exchange of information, knowledge and skills from and about the country.

Recognised as one of New Zealand’s most astute businessmen, Bill Gallagher is Chair and Chief Executive of Gallagher Group, the highly successful Hamilton-based exporter of animal management, access control and perimeter security systems.  Under his leadership, the company has grown into one of the largest and most successful private companies in the Waikato, employing 650 people in New Zealand, another 400 globally and annual sales of US$160 million.

An enterprising leader, he regularly visits Gallagher Group customers in many of the 130 countries the company sells products to, holding seminars, training sessions and field days. Gallagher Deputy CEO, Steve Tucker received the award on behalf of Bill Gallagher as he is currently in Las Vegas for the ISC West international security conference.

Presented by Kea and NZ Trade and Enterprise, the awards recognize and celebrate successful New Zealanders and friends of New Zealand. Kea founder and Awards Judge Stephen Tindall believes the World Class NZ Awards hold a special place on the country’s awards calendar.

“We need to look beyond our shores to showcase New Zealand's talent. It’s important to recognise and celebrate successful New Zealanders.”
All awards were presented at The Langham Hotel in Auckland on March 24, where winners received the World Class New Zealand tall poppy statuette, designed by Richard Taylor of Weta Workshop – 2009 Supreme winner.
