Award Winning Hand Held Reader
New Zealand Prime minister awards certificate to Gallagher's Steve Cormack, lead design engineer on the RFID hand held reader project.

This award was for the plastic engineering which won the gold award at the New Zealand Plastic Industry Design Awards in Auckland, October 2008.
- Numerous challenges were to be overcome to produce the level of engineering required to make this excellent product.
- Sunplas using concurrent manufacturing was literally making the tooling as it was still under ongoing design optimising Pro-engineer software associativity.
- Inhouse tool design capability allowed for the ambitious and cosmetic design of the main body of the reader to move smoothly to trouble free part production in the injection molding phase.
- New material application to lens allowed for more robust application with no risk to the product and complex overmolding with integral seals ensured that the product remained watertight.
- Sunplas were yet again very pleased to have their skill set recognised at the national level of the 2008 NZ Plastic Industry Design Awards.
